The Pole now owns the WTA’s longest winning streak since Serena Williams won 28 in succession between the 2012 US Open and the 2013 Australian Open.

Swiatek’s streak is the WTA’s eighth-longest since 2000 – Swiatek has now won 26 sets in succession; she last dropped a set in the round of 16 against Angelique Kerber.

The 20-year-old hit 18 winners against just three for Lys, and dropped just nine points behind her first serve.

She converted six of nine break points and saved the only one she faced to improve to 29-3 on the season.
