Kontaveit Stuns Muguruza in Stuttgart to Reach Quarterfinals



Garbiñe Muguruza’s clay-court season has started on the Back foot. Last year’s Roland Garros champion was knocked out of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix by qualifier Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-1.

It was Kontaveit’s first career Top 10 win in four tries. The World No.73 will face the Sharapova-Makarova winner in the quarterfinals.

Muguruza drops to 6-2 against players outside the Top 50 this season.
