Osaka Pulls out Due to Injury at Hometown Tournament, Shuts Down 2025 Season

The four-time major champion pulled out of Osaka due to her injured leg.

After injuring her left leg near the conclusion of her second-round victory over Suzan Lamens in Osaka, Naomi Osaka has been forced to withdraw from her quarterfinal match, sending Jaqueline Cristian through to the semis.

Tough blow for the four-time major champion, who turned 28 yesterday.

No official statement about the severity of the injury has come from Osaka. She is 30-15 on the season, and recently reached the semifinals at the US Open, her best performance at a major since 2021.

The 45 matches is the most she has played in a calendar year since 2019.
