The defending champion dropped just five games as he dismantled Tommy Paul to reach the Roland-Garros semifinals.

Paris – Fans settled into their seats on Court Philippe-Chatrier hoping for a barnburner between Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul. Instead, Alcaraz caught fire and Paul melted away.
The Spaniard’s night was over in a heartbeat, as he ripped past the American 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 34 minutes.
“Today was one of those matches when everything just went in,” Alcaraz said after stretching his Roland-Garros winning streak to 12. The defending champion will face Lorenzo Musetti in Friday’s semifinals.
Paul entered his first Roland-Garros quarterfinal having won two of six matches against Alcaraz, but he didn’t have a chance on Tuesday as the Spaniard clocked 40 winners and improved to 32-2 on clay since last May.
Paul, who won back-to-back five-setters in rounds two and three, has now lost four straight to Alcaraz. He had played Alcaraz tough in all of their previous six matches, however, but today was simply another story.
Alcaraz dropped eight points on serve and never faced a break point. Paul faced 17 break points and was broken six times.
