The Russian is one match from winning back-to-back titles as he prepares to face Andy Murray for the title in Doha.

Daniil Medvedev locked up another key victory on Friday in Doha, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6(7) to set a final with Andy Murray on Saturday.

Here are some highlights of the Russian’s latest stellar performance, by the numbers:

Medvedev improves to 6-0 over Auger-Aliassime in their lifetime head to head. They have met two times in semi-finals now, with Medvedev winning all five of those sets. In total the 27-year-old has won 14 of the pair’s 17 sets.

Auger-Aliassime had a two sets to love lead on Medvedev in the quarterfinals at the 2022 Australian Open, but ended up losing 6-7(4), 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-5, 6-4. That was the Canadian’s best performance against Medvedev. He also took a set in their first career meeting in 2018, losing 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7) in the round of 32 at the Rogers Cup.

Medvedev saved three set points in the second-set tiebreak against Auger-Aliassime on Friday.

Medvedev is the first tour player to earn six victories over Auger-Aliassime.

Medvedev stretches his current winning streak to eight victories. The Rotterdam champion has gone 3-0 in deciding sets in that span, and 3-0 against the Top-20.

Medvedev is 31-33 against the Top-10 lifetime after today’s win.

Medvedev is into his 29th career ATP final and he will bid for title No.17 on Saturday, while Murray, who has not won a title since the fall of 2019 at Antwerp, bids for his 47th career title in his 71st ATP final.

15 of Medvedev’s 16 titles have come on hard courts.

34 of Murray’s 46 titles have come on hard courts.

Murray has saved nine match points across three different matches in 2023. The Scot saved one against Matteo Berrettini at the Australian Open, three against Lorenzo Sonego in the first round at Doha and five today against Jiri Lehecka in Doha.

Medvedev owns a 2-0 edge over Murray, having defeated him in the round of 16 at Brisbane in 2019 (7-5, 6-2) and the second round at Miami last year (6-4, 6-2).
