It is the second career final for Li, who won her maiden WTA title at the Grampians Trophy event in Melbourne last February.
A year ago at this time, Li was ranked No. 112. Her inspired run to the Tenerife final vaults Li to a current career-high rank of No. 52 in the live rankings. .
The 21-year-old Li will face 19-year-old Colombian Maria Camila Osorio Serrano in tomorrow's final. Osorio Serrano was a 6-4, 7-5 victor over fourth-seeded Italian Camila Giorgi.
