Camila Giorgi is the lone seed still standing at the inaugural Tenerife Ladies Open.

The fourth-seeded Italian isn't interested in taking a seat.

A dynamic Giorgi streaked through six straight games sweeping Arantxa Rus 6-1, 6-1 to surge into her third semifinal of the season.

Giorgi served 68 percent, won 15 of 20 first-serve points and did not face a break point in a confident display of first-strike tennis.

"Today, I was playing better than yesterday and it was a great match, I think," Giorgi said afterward.

In a masterful week last August, Giorgi scored straight-sets wins over four seeds—ninth-seeded Elise Mertens, seventh-seeded Petra Kvitova, 15th-seeded Coco Gauff and two-time major finalist Karolina Pliskova—as she won the biggest title of her career at the Montreal 1000 event.

It was Giorgi's first WTA title since 2019 Linz, but she stumbled trying to follow it up. Giorgi went winless during the U.S. summer hard-court swing suffering opening-round exits in Cincinnati, the US Open, Chicago and Indian Wells.

Regaining her groove in Tenerife, Giorgi has channeled her volatile power with placement permitting just five games in her last two matches as she plays for a fourth career title.

Currently ranked No. 36, Giorgi was ranked No. 74 at this time last year. Next up for the Montreal champion is either Maria Camila Osorio Serrano, who took down top-seeded Elina Svitolina, or Zheng Saisai.

American Ann Li showed consistency and grit beating Irina-Camelia Begu 7-5, 7-5 to reach her fourth semifinal of the season (including her run to the final four of the Chicago 125 last August). Li broke in the final game of both sets today closing in two hours.

The 21-year-old Li will play Alize Cornet for a place in Sunday's final.

World No. 66 Cornet conquered Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-3, 6-3.
