Serena Williams and Steffi Graf share the Open Era record for most Grand Slams with 22 majors apiece.

While breaking that record may well be Williams' short-term goal, her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has a grand plan: Set the all-time Grand Slam record that will "never, ever" be broken.

In this video interview with CNN's Ravi Ubha, Mouratoglou says his goal is for the world No. 2 to shatter Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 Grand Slam titles.

"I have another goal. My goal is that Serena wins as many Grand Slams as she can," Mouratoglou says. "And why not set up a record that will never, ever be done again in history. And I think she can do it."

Though Williams reached three of the four Grand Slam finals this season and beat Angelique Kerber in the Wimbledon final to win her lone major title of 2016, Mouratoglou says it was "a bad season" by Williams' high standards.

"I have to be honest: It's a bad season for her," Mouratoglou said. "She's been a lot injured, which makes it even worse because she couldn't play much the WTA tournaments.

"For Serena, any other result that is not the title is a bad result. So the final of a Grand Slam is a bad result for her. So we can't be satisfied with one Grand Slam and two finals she lost. It's a bad year. There are many explanations. But you have to learn and be better next year and that's definitely the goal. This is not satisfying at all."
