Asked to state his wish for tennis, Stan Wawrinka said seeing his friend, Roger Federer, return to full health would be most beneficial to the game.
"For tennis in general, that Roger will be back at the top with no injury," Wawrinka told the media in Shanghai. "I think it’s always good for everybody when he’s playing."

The US Open champion said his wish for himself is to continue improving.
"And for myself, I don’t have any (wishes)," Wawrinka said. "I’m working every day to try to make the best I can with my tennis career, so we’ll see how I can play next year."
All three of Wawrinka's Grand Slam titles have been won against world No. 1 players in the final.
The 2015 Roland Garros champion has won 11 of his last 12 finals and said he draws major confidence from his Grand Slam triumphs.
"For sure it’s something amazing for me to have played three final and to have won all those three against No. 1 player," Wawrinka said. "Something really special and all three times I was playing my best tennis.
"I’m getting confidence, win by win, in Grand Slams. So when I start to play well in the final at tournament, I know that I can beat anybody."
