Second Serve

We’ve all been there before and we all know what it’s like to stumble—well, maybe not in front of 12,000 fans, but anyway…

Bethanie Mattek-Sands’ feet failed her in Singapore during doubles quarterfinal action at the WTA Finals, but full credit to the American who earned style points for laughing off the pain, dusting herself off and getting right back into the fray.

The American revved up the footwork Freddy Flinstone-style as she attempted to chase down a Yaroslava Shvedova drop volley, but unfortunately for Mattek-Sands her feet got tangled and she took the plunge.

Mattek-Sands and Safarova are currently struggling against Timea Babos and Shvedova in the second set, but they have rallied from a set and break down to get on serve in set two.

Mattek-Sands is one of three players in the WTA Finals draw with a shot to take the No.1 ranking from Sania Mirza.
