Elina Svitolina announced her split from coach Iain Hughes on Wednesday. The Ukrainian worked with Hughes for two and a half years and will finish this season at a career-high ranking of No.14 in the world. Svitolina is the highest-ranked player in the history of her country.
The 22-year-old was also advised by Justine Henin in 2016, and according to WTA Insider Courtney Nguyen, no announcement has been made about the pair’s working status in 2017.
Svitolina went 41-22 with a title and two finals in 2016. She also notched two wins over reigning No.1 players, defeating Serena Williams at the Olympics and Angelique Kerber at Beijing.
