Andy is not the only Murray breaking new ground and rising to the top of the ATP rankings in 2016. Jamie Murray and his partner Bruno Soares of Brazil clinched the ATP’s year-end No.1 team ranking on Friday when Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert fell to Henri Kontinen and John Peers.

Soares and Murray held a slim 25-point lead over the French duo heading into the day.

Soares still has a shot to ascend to the ATP’s year-end top doubles player ranking. If Murray and Soares win the title, Soares will pass Mahut to claim the year-end No.1. If they don’t win the title, Mahut will finish No.1. Murray and Soares will face either Lopez/Lopez or Klaasen/Ram in the semifinals on Saturday.
