Madison Keys has been spreading a message of positivity across the internet for years as she has worked to combat online bullying. Now the American has a new partner in kindness.
Keys is now joined by two-time Olympic Gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin at Kindnesswins.org.
“Being kind will literally never go out of style,” Shiffrin said in a post on social media, “Especially now with the prevalence of bullying and cyberbullying online and on social media.”
“Mikaela really embodies our mission, which focuses on those who talk about kindness and also make it a practice by spreading it to others through their actions,” Keys said in a statement. “Working together I’ve been able to see just how kind she is and her positive impact on others.”
Keys’ and Shiffrins’ next Kindness effort will be Kindness Wins Day on May 22—a day "where Kindness Wins will recognize and celebrate thoughtful, considerate and compassionate deeds and gestures, big or small, encouraging everyone to participate along with us."
“As social media platforms grow, cyber bullying continues to escalate— people often say incredibly hurtful things while hiding behind their screen—but I do believe that the online world has the potential to be a place of positivity and support rather than a hub for cyber-bullying and we have the ability to make that transformation happen starting with this message of spreading Kindness,” Shiffrin added.
