“It's a big honor for me to be on the cover of Time Magazine again,” the 32-year-old trailblazer said on her personal Facebook page.

Li was also featured on the cover of the 2013 Time 100 Issue, which listed the magazine's choices for the top 100 most influential in the world. In that issue, American tennis legend Chris Evert wrote: “Li Na is a maverick. Who else would stand up to the centralized Chinese sports system as Li did, back in 2008, when she pushed for more control over her career?”

The upcoming cover also alludes to Li's rebellious, pioneering spirit, with a caption that reads “Why her greatest victory might have been against China's sports machine.”

Li was also recently named the 2014 Forbes China Celebrity List, coming in at No. 8, which is the highest of any athlete, male or female.

Li became the first Chinese tennis player to claim a Grand Slam title when she won the Roland Garros crown in 2011. Since then she has climbed to No. 2 in the world and won a second Grand Slam in Australia this January.
