Doubles partners Serena Williams and daughter Olympia Ohanian are expanding their investment in sport.
Now, mom and daughter are getting into soccer...ownership.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion, her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and the couple's adorable two-year-old daughter, Olympia Ohanian, Jr., are co-owners of Angel City, the new Los Angeles based women's soccer squad that will compete in the 2022 National Women's Soccer League season.
Angel City ownership is comprised of some of the world's leading athletes and actors.
Fourteen former members of the U.S Women’s national squad, including superstars Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach are co-owners. Serena's long-time buddy, actress Eva Longoria, Academy Award winning actress Natalie Portman and actress Jessica Chastain are among the start-studded cast of team ownership.
Olympia Ohanian, who is an active presence on social media, announced the squad with a series of angel emojis and a soccer ball emoji and the tag: We Are Angel City.
The new squad stamped its brand with a team slogan that sounds like a Serena motivational message: "Unapologetic. Undeniable. Unstoppable. That's who we are, because that's who this city is."
Hall of Famer and social justice warrior Billie Jean King paid tribute to the team.
The new team carries special significance for Serena, who grew up playing tennis on the public park courts of nearby Compton, California.
The Williams sisters have reinvested in the courts where they grew up creating tennis and educational programs for local kids.
Earlier this month, Serena and Olympia brought a collective smile to social media sharing their tennis exploits.
Olympia even took the time to make a post on her personal account.
Mom and daughter have been hitting the tennis court together.
Maybe we'll see them kicking the soccer ball around too.
