Simona Halep is planning a red-clay return in Palermo—if the Italian tournament is played.
The Wimbledon winner, who has ruled out playing next month's US Open, told the Romanian media she's eager to return on the red clay.
Thiem: US Open Decision Coming in a Week
"I have not yet made a clear decision but I hope to start with Palermo," Halep told the Romanian media. "It's hard without tournaments, I miss them, I hope we can travel quietly and without fear soon, because it's a little worrying.
"My life has changed, everything is different. But the fact that I didn't travel a lot was also a good thing, because I rested a lot, I wanted this. I hope all the madness is over."
The 31st Palermo Ladies Open is set to start on August 3rd if travel restrictions are lifted to allow players into Italy to play the tournament.
"It is difficult not to be able to play," Halep said at a Romanin exhibition in Cluh-Napoca. "My life has changed a lot. I have used the time to rest, but I miss tennis."
