Garbiñe Muguruza addresses the crowd after defeating Venus Williams in the Wimbledon final, 7-5, 6-0. The 23-year-old Spaniard has become the eighth active player to hold multiple major titles, joining Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Angelique Kerber and Petra Kvitova.

She was asked if she had a message for her coach Sam Sumyk, who couldn’t be at Wimbledon because his wife is close to giving birth to the couple’s child.

“Here it is,” she said, holding the Venus Rosewater Dish for all to see.

Earlier Venus Williams gave a gracious runner-up speech, praising Muguruza for her strong performance at Wimbledon

“Congratulations Garbiñe, amazing,” said Williams. “I know how hoar you work and I’m sure this means so much to your family so well done today, beautiful.”
