The Western and Southern Open has hire former ATP Pro Eric Butorac as its 32nd tournament director.

40-year-old Butorac, who also will continue to serve as the Director, Professional Tennis Operations and Player Relations at the US Open since 2016, was a member of the ATP’s Player Council from 2008 to 2016, and he served as president from 2014 to 2016.

“The Western & Southern Open is one of the most important events on both Tours and is one of the players’ favorites, thanks in large part to the energy and enthusiasm the fans bring to the tournament,” Butorac said.

The Minnesota native won 18 doubles titles in his career and reached another 11 finals.

The 2021 singles championships were won by Ashleigh Barty and Alexander Zverev while the doubles titles were claimed by Sam Stosur and Zhang Shuai and Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. The Western & Southern Open is held annually at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The 2022 tournament will take place Aug. 13-21.
