Watch: Djokovic Takes Tennis To Streets
The man who founded the Rafa Nadal Academy revels in his rivals' skills in building the perfect player.
In a new interview with Sport 360, the king of clay selects Novak Djokovic's backhand, Roger Federer's forehand, Gael Monfils' speed and his own heart as key components in his vision of the perfect player.
"For backhand, I think I'm gonna take Novak," Nadal told Sport 360. "He's able to defend very well, to attack very well down the line, close, so he has full options."
While the left-handed Spaniard's ferocious forehand is widely regarded as one of the best in tennis history, Nadal selects rival Roger Federer's forehand as the ideal because of the Swiss stylist's ability to take the forehand on the rise and his creativity and versatility off that wing.
"I think Federer," Nadal says of his forehand choice. "He's able to take the ball very early, to create winners from everywhere. He's able to hit flatter with spin so he has all the shots."
