"I came back today and my wrist was sore in practice," Kyrgios said in a statement. "I took a week off after the Aussie [Open], then came back too soon and the wrist wasn't up for it."

Kyrgios had been scheduled to play his buddy Tommy Paul in his opener.

Lucky loser Daniel Elahi Galan replaced Kyrgios in the draw and will face Paul not before 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, February 18th..

Earlier this month, Galan reached the ATP Challenger final in Newport Beach, California.
