Ever heard of Belgium’s Arthur de Greef? Well, consider yourself warned. The 24-year-old Belgian has a mean set of wheels and some racquet skills as well.

On Tap: Rio, Marseille, Dubai, Delray Beach and Budapest

De Greef took out defending champion Pablo Cuevas for the biggest win of his ATP career on Monday at the Rio Open, and he did it in style with a late break and a never-say-die brand of defense.

The Belgian qualifier wasn’t the only player to pull an upset. World No. 208 Casper Ruud of Norway got his first ATP win by defeating Rogerio Dutra Silva. The 18-year-old Wild Card will Roberta Carballes Baena of Spain in the second round.

Carballes Baena also notched a big upset on Monday. The World No. 132 took out No.8-seeded Joao Sousa in straight sets.

Dusan Lajovic, Diego Schwartzman and Nicolas Kicker were also winners on Monday at the Rio Open.
