Inside the ATP’s Annual Player Photo Shoot

Where do all those giant photos of ATP players outside of ATP venues come from? What about the glossy shots in your tournament programs? And the head shots on the ATP web site? Most of them come from the five-day ATP photo shoot where a team culls together over a hundred ATP stars together to get all kinds of photos and videos taken.

“We shoot over 100 players, both photos and 4K green screen video footage,” says George Ciz ATP Senior VP of Marketing and Business Development. “This gives us the opportunity for us to create fantastic TV spots—the opening title for the live coverage for all three levels of tournaments. It also provides tremendous resources for our digital channels, for player profiles on ATPWorldTour.com and just overall powers everything that we do.”

Doubles specialist Jean-Julien Rojer sums up the proper mindset to the long days the shoot creates. “I watched Zoolander a few times, so I got some tips from that.”

The video above gives an inside look at the photo shoot. In the weeks and months to come we’ll be looking forward to taking in the fruits of this labor intensive project.
