Tennis is a lifetime sport that can add years to your life.
A scientific study conducted to assess the benefits of different sports concludes that playing tennis and other racquet sports dramatically reduces your risk of death.

When death comes to your door, pick up your racquet and start swinging. Tennis can beat back death.
The study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, surveyed 306 British adults participating in various sports, including tennis, running, cycling, swimming and soccer.
Playing tennis and other racquet sports at any age reduces mortality rates by 47 percent, according to the study.
Swimming reduced risk of death by 28 percent and aerobics and dance were found to decrease death risk by 27 percent.
The study shows tennis, and other sports, can add life to your years and years to your life.
“It is the first big scale population study to say ‘is participation in sport protective in terms of your long-term mortality?' The answer is yes, it does appear to be,” Charlie Foster, co-author of the study from the University of Oxford told The Guardian. “They all have different physiological demands, and they all have different physical, social and mental benefits."
