Stosur Out of US Open

Samantha Stosur won't be making the trip to New York.

The 2011 US Open champion withdrew due to a wrist injury that has sidelined her since her three-set loss to eventual-champion Jelena Ostapenko in the Roland Garros fourth round.

Azarenka: Won't Play US Open

Stosur, who has posted a 19-14 record on the year, said her wrist injury is slowly healing and she hopes to return before the end of the season.

Germany's Annika Beck replaces the 33-year-old Aussie in the field.

There are four former US Open singles champions scheduled to play in New York: two-time former champion Venus Williams, 2004 titlist Svetlana Kuznetsova, wild card Maria Sharapova and reigning champion Angelique Kerber.
