Next year, the 21-year-old American will fund and host a series of six summits at schools around the world in an effort to spread the word about FearlesslyGirl's mission and take the orginization global.
“I’ve tried my best to be a good role model for my two younger sisters,” Keys told Forbes writer Danielle Rossingh, adding her aim as a FearlesslyGirl ambassador “will give me a very unique opportunity to inspire, help, encourage and be a big sister to a whole generation of girls.”
The world No. 9 told Forbes the transition from high school life to the pro circuit was a challenge and believes the support structure of FearlesslyGirl would have been "a huge benefit for me." Read her complete Forbes interview here.
“It was tough because I was on the road so much, on top of everything,”Keys said. “I went through what every girl goes through emotionally in life, going through high school. It wasn’t easy.
"But now looking back, I realize that there were a lot of people around me who were probably going through the same thing. And I think if I was able to be a part of a FearlesslyGIRL summit, and go and talk to people and know that they were feeling the same way that I was, and that we could sit down and talk to each other and help each other out, that would have been a huge benefit for me.”
