Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic kept the tennis world entertained on Friday as the pair traded stories about their lives on the tour, weighed in on their biggest regrets and spoke of their first ever meeting, which happened well over 20 years ago. It was a wildly entertaining hour on Instagram Live that featured comments from Nick Kyrgios, a bird flip from Stan Wawrinka and, on a more serious note, a heartfelt and genuinely interesting dialog between two of the greatest players and deepest thinkers of their generation.

Further proof that the Coronavirus has taken the tennis from our lives, but it can’t take it from our hearts. And in reality, one of the prevailing themes for glass-half-full thinkers during the Coronavirus pandemic is that it is allowing for the organic flow of new ideas and innovative thinking. So, yes, it sucks mightily that we as a society are in this situation, but what doesn’t suck is the response. To have Murray and Djokovic spend an together like this is a treat that we simply would not be getting if the season was in full flight. These two would be jet-setting from city to city, chasing down titles and each would barely have time to breathe, let alone collaborate on a 60-minute Insta chill.

Instead, due to the shutdown of the sport, we get Murray and Djokovic live on the interwebz, talking about their 2012 Olympic semifinal and their 2016 Roland Garros final (and so many other great and memorable moments) and revealing the fascinating psychological elements of those contests as they do.

If you love tennis, and tennis history, then how fortunate are you go get this unique inside perspective on one of the storied rivalries of our sport, from two of the game’s greatest heroes?

So head back up to the top of the page and indulge, tennis fans. Click that YouTube link and sit back with a refreshing beverage. This one is for you. It’s something to tide you over in tough times when there isn’t a lot to be excited about tennis-wise.

Watch and listen, as Murray talks of the challenge of trying to go from London in 2012, where he had just won the Olympic Gold, to Canada, where he would soon suffer a humbling defeat and learn a valuable lesson.

Watch and listen as Djokovic explains why his losses at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics are two of the losses that he still regrets to this day. Get a sense of how he yearns for that Olympic gold (look out 2021).

Also of interest is the discussion that Murray and Djokovic have about the psychological difficulties of trying to come back from long injury layoffs. It’s a fascinating discussion from two absolute champions about struggling to recapture their form, and how that struggle is much more of a mental one than a physical one.

For us, there have been many social media highlights since tennis shut down in early March. As tennis fans we know that the personalities of the sport are strong and so many talented, creative players are doing their part to keep us entertained and in high spirits during these rough times.

This hour-long chat between Murray and Djokovic is definitely a high point of that social media relief that the players have been providing. Because not only does it entertain, it also introduces a depth and context to the conversation. This isn’t a 100-volley challenge or a TikTok dance. This is something quite different. This is a lengthy, chewy and forever unfolding discussion between two amazing athletes and humans.

We even had GOAT TALK -- and who would ever want to miss that?

So, yeah. More of these, please…
