Kim Clijsters already has the No. 1 spot in the world sewn up for the week to come.
Now she's focusing on winning another title.
Clijsters defeated third seeded Kaia Kanepi 6-1, 7-5 on Saturday at the GDF Suez Open in Paris to advance to the tournament final.
She'll square off there against fourth-seeded Petra Kvitova, who wiped the court with American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, 6-2, 6-0.
Clijsters played a magnificent return game in eliminating Kanepi, scoring winners on 51% of her opponent's first serves (25 of 49). She was even better on Kanepi's second serves, winning 15 points in 23 attempts. She also broke her opponent seven times in 13 tries.
It was a nice run for Kanepi, who has never beaten Clijsters (0-3). She'll pick up 200 points for her efforts on the week and should move up to No. 15 in the world for it.
Meanwhile, the 18th-ranked Kvitova broke Mattek-Sands six times and hit 28 of 43 serves for winners to take the easy victory.
Still a month short of her 21st birthday, Kvitova has been as hot as Clijsters so far in 2011, sporting an 15-1 record with a title already under her belt at Brisbane. Clijsters defeated Kvitova twice last year.
