(April 24, 2010) Rafael Nadal furthers his domination on clay as he beat out fellow Spaniard, David Ferrer at the Barcelona Open tournament, 6-2, 6-4. This is Nadal’s 6th win at the tournament and has a 26-1 record in Barcelona now.
He felt little in the way of resistance as he powered through the match, swiftly ending the fellow Spaniard’s attempts to recoup a loss last week. Nadal just beat Ferrer at the Monte Carlo tournament last week, also in straight sets. Nadal is now on a 34-match winning streak on clay and many see little in terms of being able to stop him.
In doubles, the Bryan Brothers were beat out in the finals by the Mexican-American team of Santiago Gonzalez and Scott Lipsky. The Bryans were able to capture the first set, but let the second set slip 2-6, bringing them to a super tie break. Gonzalez and Lipsky won 5-7, 6-2, (12-10).
At the other ATP tournament in Munich, the Bulgarian, Grigor Dimitrov was able to beat out German player Andreas Beck, 6-1, 6-4. Beck was at one point ranked No. 33 in the world, but has fallen to No. 122. Dimitrov, on the other hand, is at a career high of 70.
