On a day that was characterized by speculation about possible deportation, Novak Djokovic has taken his place in the men’s singles draw – albeit after an unexplained 75 minute delay that left many wondering what was going on in Melbourne.

As it turns out, nine-time Aussie Open champion Djokovic was not delivered any bad news and the draw went down as normal.

The World No.1 has landed in the same section as Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev, and could end up meeting one of the two in the semifinals.

Djokovic opens with Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia in his first match, and the first seeded player he could encounter is Lorenzo Sonego of Italy, the No. 25 seed, who would face Djokovic in the third round.

Nadal opens with American Marcos Giron, while No.2 seeded Daniil Medvedev will face Henri Laaksonen of Switzerland in the first round.

Medvedev has one of the trickier draws among the top seeds. He is slated to face Nick Kyrgios in the second round and Ugo Humbert in the third round. Both players own a 2-0 lifetime record against him.

The projected quarterfinals – if the seeds hold – look like this:

[1] Djokovic v Berrettini [7]
[6] Nadal v Zverev [3]
[8] Ruud v Tsitsipas [4]
[2] Medvedev v Rublev [5]
