Samantha Stosur was two games from lifting the title trophy.

A stubborn Sofia Kenin snatched the match with a seven-game surge streaking to her third championship of the year at the Guangzhou Open.

Coach Patrick: Serena Facing Highest Pressure

The 20-year-old Kenin stopped Stosur, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2 storming to second hard-court title of the year.

Kenin, who beat Belinda Bencic to win Mallorca on grass in June, claimed her first career trophy in Hobart last January.

Playing for her first tournament title in two-and-a-half years, Stosur battled back from a break down at 2-4 to squeeze out the opening set in a tie break.

The 35-year-old wild card was eight points from triumph holding a one-set, 4-3 lead.

An energized Kenin completely turned the tide. Smacking her two-handed backhand down the line with authority, Kenin broke three times in a row in a seven-game spree that saw her take the second set and power to a 4-0 lead in the decider.

The Pembroke Pines, Florida resident scored her 17th victory in her last 21 matches.
