Goodbye sunshine, hello clay.

BNP Paribas Open Dominic Thiem fell at the first hurdle in Miami on Friday as he was knocked off by Rising Pole Hubert Hurkacz, 6-4 6-4.

Hurkacz earns his third Top 10 win of 2019 (and first Top 5 win of his career) and advances to the third round where he will face another rising force, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The Canadian, who reached the round of 16 at the BNP Paribas after earning his first Top 10 win over Stefanos Tsitsipas, defeated Marton Fucsovics on Friday, 6-4 4-6 6-0.

Thiem was broken four times and only managed to win four points against Hurkacz’ first serve.
