The WTA has a new No.1 on the doubles side.

Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic becomes the 43rd woman to top the WTA’s double rankings on the strength of the Wimbledon title she won on Sunday with Hsieh Su-Wei.

Strycova and Hsieh topped Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan on Sunday, 6-2 6-4, to win their first major title as a team.

Hsieh, who earns her third major title overall, has held the WTA’s top doubles ranking for five weeks previously.

Strycova had never won a major or held the top ranking—until Monday.

“I can't thank [Hsieh] enough to help me pick up No. 1,” she told reporters after the final. “It feels, again, unreal. It's amazing. It was my goal at the beginning of this year, that I want to become No. 1. It was really big goal. It happens right now, especially here at this moment, this tournament, my favorite place. Yes, it's a fairytale. It has been two weeks of amazing moments. I will never forget.”

Strycova becomes the seventh Czech woman to rank No.1 in doubles, joining Helena Sukova (68 weeks), Jana Novotna (67), Kveta Peschke (10), Lucie Safarova (six) and most recently Barbora Krejcikova (12) and Katerina Siniakova (33).

Martina Navratilova had 237 weeks as WTA doubles No.1, but as an American.

The duo also lead the WTA Race to Shenzhen and plan to stick together for the rest of the season with the WTA Finals as their target.

“We definitely talked about playing together because we have a good chance to play the [WTA Finals Shenzhen]," Strycova said. "We are on a pretty good way to do that. We will play together until the end of the year, and then we sit down and we will see how it goes, how we feel. Yeah, we will not look so much in the future, just the end of this year.”

Hsieh and Strycova now own five lifetime titles, including four in 2019 (Dubai, Madrid, Birminghan and Wimbledon). They capped the grass season by winning 10 consecutive matches through Birmingham and Wimbledon.
