Dominic Thiem kept his perfect record at Buenos Aires alive with a straight-sets thrashing of Gael Monfils to reach the final.

Austria’s Dominic Thiem remained unbeaten at the Argentina Open with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Gael Monfils on Saturday. The 2016 champion has won all eight of his matches in Buenos Aires, and will face Slovenia’s Aljaz Bedene in the final.

Thiem improved to 4-0 lifetime against Monfils with a 62-minute command performance that saw him convert four of nine break points and not face a break point while serving. The Austrian improves to 11-1 on the season and 86-30 on clay lifetime. Since the beginning of 2016 Thiem has gone 52-12 on the surface.


Bedene reached his third ATP final but has yet to win a title on tour. He owns and 0-2 lifetime record against Thiem.
