John Isner continued his torrid tennis at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, defeating Switzerland’s Henri Laaksonen, 6-4, 6-2.

The top-seeded American chipped in 13 aces and didn’t face a break point to lock down his eighth straight victory. 2013 champion Isner joins four other Americans in the quarterfinals, two of which are former champions.

Defending champion Steve Johnson defeated Frances Tiafoe, 6-3, 6-4, while 2015 champion Jack Sock took out Horacio Zeballos, 6-4, 6-4.

Taylor Fritz also advanced on Thursday, defeating fellow American Ryan Harrison, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, while Tennys Sandgren reached the quarterfinals on Wednesday with a 6-2, 7-6(3) win over Nicolas Kicker.

Isner will face No.6-seeded Johnson in the quarterfinals; No.3-seeded Sock will face Fritz.

No.4-seeded Nick Kyrgios will face Ivo Karlovic in one of the lower-half quarterfinals, while No.8-seeded Sandgren will take on Argentina’s Guido Pella in the other.
