Beware the #Stanimal.

The three-time major champion is on the prowl again, striking fear in the hearts of less aggressive, opportunistic players. Today that player in question was Marin Cilic, and Stan Wawrinka breezed by the Croatian, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1, to book a spot in a third consecutive Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in his career.

Wawrinka clocked 25 winners against 17 unforced errors and converted six of nine break points to notch his 8th consecutive win against Cilic.

The Swiss will face either Andy Murray or Marin Cilic in Friday’s semifinals.

Wawrinka, who claimed the Geneva title just prior to Roland Garros, has now won nine in a row to match his best winning streak on clay. He became the oldest ATP player to reach the semifinals at Roland Garros since Jimmy Connors in 1985. Wawrinka is 32 years and 75 days old. He has not dropped a set in Paris, and improved to 25-8 on the season and 37-11 at Roland Garros.
