Seven of the top eight seeds will take the court on Wednesday in Paris and we’re going inside the numbers to take a closer look at the matchups.

32

Number of Grand Slam titles won by the eight players in the quarterfinals, combined. Rafael Nadal (14), Novak Djokovic (12), Andy Murray (3) and Stan Wawrinka (3), are all gunning for another title to add to their resumé. It’s quite a difference from what we’ve seen on the women’s side at Roland Garros this year. There was not a single former Grand Slam champion among the eight quarterfinalists for the first time at a major since 1979.

7

The length of Stan Wawrinka’s current winning streak over Marin Cilic. Wawrinka owns an 11-2 lifetime record against Cilic and has not lost to the Croatian since the 2010 Australian Open.

The lowest ranked player still remaining in the Roland Garros men’s singles draw is Pablo Carreno Busta. The World No.21 is contesting his first major quarterfinal. Each of the remaining seven players still alive in the draw are ranked inside the Top 10.

Andy Murray is bidding to reach his fourth consecutive Roland Garros semifinal and if he achieves the feat he will join a list that includes just four other Open Era players—Novak Djokokic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Mats Wilander.

7

By reaching his seventh Grand Slam quarterfinal at Roland Garros, Kei Nishikori has taken sole ownership of the all-time record for most Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances by a Japanese man. He’ll face Andy Murray on Wednesday.

7

Number of games that Novak Djokovic lost against Dominic Thiem when they met in the semifinals at Roland Garros last year. Thiem is 0-5 lifetime against the 12-time major champion and he has only won one of 12 sets vs. Djokovic.

32

Novak Djokovic is bidding to reach his 32nd Grand Slam semifinal, which would move him into sole occupancy of second on the ATP’s all-time Open Era list, behind only Roger Federer (41). Djokovic is currently tied with Jimmy Connors at 31 Grand Slam semifinals, and he is also tied with Connors at 233 all-time Grand Slam match wins.

21

Thiem (21-4) and Rafael Nadal (21-1) are tied for the most clay-court wins in 2017.

4-2

Cilic has won four of his last six matches against Top 5 opposition, but he has never defeated a Top 5 player on clay (0-7).

13-0

Rafael Nadal’s record against his fellow Spaniards at Roland Garros. It isn’t just Spain that Nadal has victimized at the French Open—he holds a 76-2 lifetime record on the terre battue and he is bidding to become the first player in history to win ten titles at the same major.
