Gilles Muller continued his torrid tennis on the grass with a 6-4, 7-6(5) win over former Queen’s Club champion Sam Querrey on Friday. The 34-year-old Luxembourgian has now won seven straight matches and will face No.4-seeded Marin Cilic for a spot in his second consecutive final on the grass.

Muller improved to 23-11 on the season. He has already reached finals on all three surfaces, and won his first two career titles at Sydney (d. Evans) and ‘s-Hertogenbosch (d. Karlovic).

Muller served 12 aces and won 17 of 21 second-serve points, saving both break points he faced against Querrey to defeat the World No.28 for the first time in three tries. Querrey served exceptionally well, winning 34 of 38 first serve points but he was broken on the only break point he faced in the first set.

Cilic eased past American Donald Young in Friday’s second quarterfinal, 6-4, 7-5. He served 11 aces and only dropped five points on serve, converting all 16 of his second serve points and never facing a break point. The 2012 Queen’s Club champion improves to 22-12 on the season and 5-1 on grass.

No.6-seeded Grigor Dimitrov, the 2014 Queen’s champion, is also still alive. The Bulgarian toughed out a three-setter with 21-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev to reach the semifinal at Queen’s for the third time.
