Konta earned 15 break points against Barty and converted two in each set to claim the victory in 90 minutes. The British No.1 and World No.8 will next face Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia.
Rybarikova defeated American qualifier Kristie Ahn, 6-4, 6-1. She is playing fantastic tennis after taking eight months off of injury after Wimbledon last year. The 28-year-old won the Surbiton challenger last week and has won three ITF titles in total this season.
No.5-seeded Lucie Safarova also came through on Friday, defeating Tsvetana Pironkova, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, to set a semifinal with Donna Vekic.
