Top-ranked Angelique Kerber is the top seed for Wimbledon.

The grass-court Grand Slam issued its seedings for The Championships.

US Open champion Kerber, who fell to Serena Williams in a quality 2016 Wimbledon final, is seeded first.

Roland Garros runner-up Simona Halep is the second seed with third-seeded Karolina Pliskova, fourth-seeded Elina Svitolina and Caroline Wozniacki rounding out the top five seeds.

British No. 1 Johanna Konta is seeded sixth, Svetlana Kuznetsova is seeded seventh and Dominika Cibulkova is seeded eighth followed by Agnieszka Radwanska and five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams, who is seeded No. 10.

Interestingly, both a former Wimbledon champion and oddsmakers are picking 11th-seeded Petra Kvitova, a two-time former Wimbledon champion, as the favorite to capture her third Rosewater Dish.

Fresh off her run to the Birmingham title in just her second tournament back after undergoing a three-and-a-half hour surgery on her left hand, Kvitova is Hall of Famer Chrissie Evert's pick to win Wimbledon.

"To me, she is the best grass court player that is playing at Wimbledon," Evert said in a conference call to promote ESPN's Wimbledon coverage, which starts on Monday. "Seeing that there are not too many, if any, grass court specialists in the tournament, she is the one that I think everybody has to look out for.

"If she can get through the first couple of rounds, which are always a little bit dangerous for any top player, because you don't know the conditions of the court, your opponent might be hot. If she can get a few matches in the first week of the tournament, she's my favorite. She's definitely up there... Fortunately for her, she's coming back at a time when she's playing on her favorite surface, the two Grand Slams she's won. It's looking good for her right now."
