We dig in and crunch the important numbers ahead of a blockbuster day of women's semifinals at Wimbledon.

1. 1978

By reaching the semifinals with her three-set win over Simona Halep, Great Britain’s Johanna Konta became the first British woman to reach the last four at Wimbledon since 1978. She’ll face Venus Williams on Day 10. Konta holds a 3-2 lifetime edge in the series with Williams, with the 37-year-old American having taken their last meeting on the Roman clay this spring.

2. 37

At 37 years of age, Williams is the oldest Women’s semifinalist at Wimbledon since 1994. If the American somehow went on to take the title, she would become the oldest player to win a major title in Open Era history, surpassing her sister Serena, who won this year’s Australian Open at the age of 35.

3. 87

Slovakia’s Magdalena Rybarikova entered Wimbledon 56 spots shy of her career-high ranking, but she’s closing in on the Top 20 thanks to her amazing Wimbledon run. The 28-year-old will reach the Top 20 if she defeats Garbiñe Muguruza on Day 10. If she doesn’t she’ll settle in at around No.33. If she wins the title, the WTA projects that she’ll finish at around No.16 in the world.

4. 2-0

Spain’s Garbiñe Muguruza is trying to continue what would be a very positive trend at the Grand Slams. The 23-year-old has reached a major final in each of the last two seasons and she’ll try to make it three in a row on Thursday when she faces Magdalena Rybarikova. Muguruza is 2-0 lifetime in major semifinals and she’s 2-2 lifetime against Rybarikova, with a loss in their last meeting, which came in 2015 on grass at Birmingham.

5. 46%

No.10-seeded Venus Williams leads all remaining semifinalist in percentage of unreturnable first serves. 104 of 227 first-serves that the American has fired have not been put back in play.

48%

Magdelana Rybarikova is doing one heck of a job with her service return. The skilled Slovakian has won a whopping 48 percent of her return games, which far outpaces the rest of the WTA semifinal field at Wimbledon.

7. 2-9

Rybarikova’s record at Wimbledon prior to this season. It truly has been a remarkable run for the first Slovakian to ever reach a Grand Slam semifinal.

8. 86

With a career record of 86-14 at Wimbledon, Venus Williams is one match from passing her sister Serena for first-place on Wimbledon’s active all-time win list.

9. 8

A sign of the times for the WTA? Whatever it is, it’s fun. Magdalena Rybarikova’s trip to the semifinals as an unseeded player marks the 8th consecutive major that an unseeded player has made a semifinal run. Rybarikova is the 24th player to reach a major as an unseeded player since 2001, and the sixth at Wimbledon.

10. 37, 29

At 37 years and 29 days (age at end of tournament), Venus Williams is the fourth-oldest WTA semifinalist in Open Era history. Billie Jean King (39 years and 223 days in 1983) is the oldest woman to ever reach the last four at a major.

Enjoy the tennis!
