The ATP has put together a nice behind-the-scenes look at Grigor Dimitrov’s title run in Sofia, Bulgaria last week. Dimitrov powered through the draw much to the delight of packed houses every night at that Garanta Koza Sofia Open, eventually defeating David Goffin 7-5, 6-4 in the final to claim his sixth ATP title and second of the season.

What's on Tap? Rotterdam, Doha, Buenos Aires and Memphis

“There was a joke on social media when he played Rafa Nadal in the semifinal [at the Australian Open]” said journalist Emil Evtimov in the video. “’In Bulgaria today no one is working except Grigor Dimitrov’… Everybody stopped, everybody is now a tennis fan in Bulgaria—it’s really great.”

Anybody who watched the event knows of the fervor of the Bulgarian fans. They showed up in great numbers, chanted and roared their approvoal at each of Dimitrov's victories. They were passionate to see their top player deliver a title, and Dimitrov answered the bell.

“Bulgaria is a small country. If I can bring that to the whole nation, it’s pretty amazing,” Dimitrov said.

The Bulgarian has been good wherever he has visited this season. He won three consecutive matches against the Top 10 in Sydney to claim the title before reaching his first Grand Slam semifinal since 2014 in Melbourne, where he nearly upset Nadal in what was considered to be one of the matches of the season thus far.

Dimitrov is 14-1 on the season with two titles, and he has gone 6-1 against the Top 20. His turnaround has been remarkable this season. In 2015 and 2016 combined, Dimitrov went 11-21 against the Top 20.

For his efforts Dimitrov will climb to No.12 in the rankings. It’s his highest ranking since July of 2015.

“I just need to keep my head high, keep on working, stay on the ground, stay humble and just keep up the good work,” Dimitrov says.

Dimitrov is in Rotterdam this week. As the No.5 seed, he’s slated to face off with Germany’s Mischa Zverev in the first round of the ABN Amro on Wednesday.
