Juan Martin del Potro hopes to get some good news from the doctor after a scary fall in Shanghai on Friday night. The Argentinean’s thrice surgically repaired left wrist took the brunt of a fall and he needed several minutes with trainers courtside before returning to action.

Del Potro won the match, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 over Victor Troicki of Serbia to set up a semifinal wth Roger Federer.

Afterwards a wary Del Potro told media that he planned to get an MRI and was hoping for the best.

“I felt something wrong in that moment,” he said. “But I continued to play, just playing slices, but now it’s time to see what the MRI says and also what the doctor says. I’m a little worried but I know how to deal with all of these things.”

Del Potro added that he is unsure about playing Saturday’s semifinal against Federer. "I will see what the doctor says now and then we will take a decision for tomorrow.”
