Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Rolex Paris Masters due to an injury. He wore strapping on his right knee during his victory over Pablo Cuevas on Thursday in Paris, and even had it checked on court.

"I have to pull out; of course it’s a very hard decision for me," Nadal told the media in Paris. "Pulling out from any event is tough especially here from Paris. As I've said many times it is the most important city in my career, without a doubt. It’s a tough decision, a sad one."

The 31-year-old Spaniard said he took treatment last night, but his knee would not allow him to play today.

"I did all the things I had to do to try to play this event," Nadal said. "I did one treatment last night to try to play today, but it’s impossible to go on court like yesterday.

"I have to pull out that’s it. Sorry for the tournament, sorry for the fans. This is a sad day for me and I understand for the tournament, too. But especially for me. I came her to try my best and go as far as I can."

The World No.1 hopes to be fit for the ATP World Tour Finals which take place from November 12-19th though Nadal was not definitive when asked about his London status today.

"I am going to try my best to play in London, but I can't talk about that now," Nadal said.

Nadal’s withdrawal sends Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic into his first Masters 1000 semifinal.
