The third-seeded Swiss has a first-round bye. Federer opens against either Joao Sousa or Nicolas Mahut with a possible third-round match against Munich finalist Dominic Thiem looming.
The 14th-seeded Austrian plays Argentine wild card Juan Martin del Potro in the first round, with the winner facing either Benoit Paire or Jack Sock next.
