Novak's Recovery Plan: Win Doubles

Novak Djokovic responded to his stunning Indian Wells singles loss with a doubles win.

About an hour after Philipp Kohlschreiber upset the world No. 1 in singles, Djokovic partnered Fabio Fognini to a thrilling 7-6 (6), 2-6, 10-6 triumph over Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau that sent the pair into the semifinals.

The five-time Indian Wells singles champion said he's aiming to capture his second career doubles title nearly nine years after his maiden doubles crown at Queen's Club.

"To be honest, I don't enjoy losing, nobody does, but especially in a tournament like this, tournament where I have had plenty of success in the past," Djokovic told the media after his doubles triumph. "You know, I thought I was in a good form. I was practicing well. But it just happens, one of those days.

"You just have to deal with it, move on, turn the next page. Miami is the next tournament singles-wise for me. I'm going to try to go all the way here in doubles. I'm really excited about that. And get some good practice in."

The six-time Miami Open champion said bouncing back to win doubles right after losing singles helped him right some wrongs in his game.

"When I hit a good return, I was wondering why this didn't happen in singles," Djokovic said. "But it is, I guess, part of the world that we are, the world of tennis. It's part of our world, and we just have to bounce back very quickly. And in this case, it's good for me that I'm participating in doubles here, because I get a chance to rectify the wrongs, if you want, but I don't think it's going to sit with me too long.

"I don't feel how this can, you know, disturb me on the long run. You know, I know what I'm capable of. I know the quality of my tennis. It's just one of those days. You just have to congratulate your opponent and move on."
