Total prize money for the French Open will go up by around 8 percent this year, with the men's and women's champions winning $2.7 million each. The biggest overall increases go to first-round losers. Here’s how it shapes up:


In dollar terms, Roland Garros still comes in a tad lower than the other three majors in champion’s purse, but the French Open has surpassed the Australian Open in overall payout:

Qualifiers received the most significant pay raise, percentage-wise at Roland Garros in 2018. Players that lose in the first and second round of qualies receive raises of 20 percent or more.
Main draw action begins on May 27 at Roland Garros.
