Tiafoe, Fritz, Opelka Lead IW Wild Cards


Indian Wells' wild cards share a red, white and blue pedigree.

The BNP Paribas Open awarded wild cards to 12 Americans as well as 90th-ranked Croatian Donna Vekic.

Nineteen-year-old Frances Tiafoe, the youngest man in the Top 100 who pushed Juan Martin del Potro to a third-set tie break in Acapulco last week, leads the list of men's qualifiers. Tiafoe defeated Taylor Fritz in the 2016 Indian Wells first round.




The 19-year-old Fritz is one of five American men awarded wild cards along with 6'11" Reilly Opelka, Stefan Kozlov and Bjorn Fratangelo

Bethanie Mattek-Sands, who won the 2016 BNP Paribas Open doubles crown with CoCo Vandeweghe, Nicole Gibbs, Taylor Townsend, Danielle Collins, Irina Falconi, Kayla Day and Jennifer Brady join Vekic as women's wild card recipients.
