Stan Wawrinka has taken on a new coach for the 2017 grass court season. The Swiss, who owns a 27-24 lifetime record on the surface and has not reached a final on grass since 2013, will spend the grass season with Paul Annacone. Annacone spent three years as the coach of Roger Federer and guided him to his seventh Wimbledon title and the No.1 ranking before parting ways with the Swiss maestro in the fall of 2013.

Wawrinka will open his grass-court season with an appearance at Queen’s Club. Last season Wawrinka took on former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek to help him for the grass court season and went 1-2 with a first-round loss at Queen’s to Alexandr Dolgopolov and a second-round loss to Juan Martin del Potro at Wimbledon.

Wawrinka had reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in the two previous years. He lost to Roger Federer in 2014 and Richard Gasquet in 2015.
