Stretched out wide on the forehand side, Nadal wasn’t even in position to turn his head to track this shot. All he could do was put racquet to ball and let the thunderous applause from the Chatrier crowd inform him as to where this shot landed.

It’s hard to tell from full speed video, but the ball landed in for the most remarkable winner of the Paris fortnight. NBC’s radar clocked it at a cool 99 MPH—the ball simply could not be struck any cleaner.
