Watch: Nadal Trains with Dani Rincon

The king of clay trained with Spain's future tennis prince.

Reigning US Open and Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal hit with 17-year-old standout Dani Rincon on the red clay of the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor.

Rincon, who joined the Academy last year, made history in 2019.

The left-hander became the sixth Spanish player to win the Orange Bowl in the Under-16s category, joining Álex Corretja (1990), Gonzalo Corrales (1991), Tommy Robredo (1998), Georgi Roumenov (2005) and Pablo Llamas (2018) achieving that feat.

In addition to his singles success, Rincon partnered Abedallah Shelbayh, also a Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar player, to capture the Orange Bowl doubles title.

The Spaniard and the Jordanian swept Americans Ozan Colak and Hugo Kashimoto 6-1, 6-2 in the Orange Bowl doubles final.

Rincon's double Orange Bowl championships closed a year in which he also won two other important tournaments. In Vila do Conde, Portugal and Casablanca, Morocco he won his first ITF World Tennis Tour Junior trophies, as well as reaching the final in Luque, Paraguay.

Nineteen-time Grand Slam champion Nadal has been training primarily on red clay prompting speculation he will skip defense of his US Open crown next month and invest his energy pursuing his 13th Roland Garros championship—and his quest to match Roger Federer's all-time mark capturing his 20th Grand Slam title.
